I Believe

I believe…

I believe above all things that family is the most important and valuable gift that life can give us. In a family, someone is bound to have your back. No matter what, they will always be there for you. Family is like a permanent best friend. You can count on them for anything. You can count on a family member when you need someone to smile, laugh, or cry with. My definition of family is a group of people whom will love and support you through the good times or the bad times. Each person in the family is very special in their own way, and I believe that everyone in the family plays a different role. There are parents, aunts and uncles, siblings, cousins, and grandparents.
Parents are the ones with unconditional love for their children. Parents would do anything under the sun to keep the people that they love happy. My parents especially make sure that my siblings and I have a safe neighborhood to live in. They make sure that I attend a safe, enjoyable, academic school that will prepare me for what life may bring me in the future. My parents make sure that I have food on my plate for at least three healthy meals a day.  Not only do my parents help me with the necessities in life, they also want me to live life to the fullest. They allow me to play the sports of my choice and support me completely. They are by far my number one cheerleaders. My parents are also the ones that drive me everywhere. They are like my chauffeurs, and they do not even complain about it. I cannot thank my parents enough for all that they do for me. Aunts and uncles also play a huge role in my life. They are like second parents to me. They treat me as one of their own children, and would only want to see me succeed in life.
Siblings also share their unconditional love, but they play a different role in my life than my parents do. I have one brother and one sister whom are both older than me. Siblings are the people in life we share our secrets with, joke around with, and best of all, make memories with. We can consider them as a best friend that we will never lose, unlike maybe a boyfriend. We can count on them for anything. It is convenient to have someone so close in age that might be possible to relate to. Siblings have your back no matter what happens. If either of my siblings are sad, then so am I. If they are happy, then I am happy. It is the same the other way around. Knowing that there is someone so close in age to just tell random stories to or talk about deep things to gives me a relieved feeling. I believe that siblings can give the best advice. Cousins are like siblings that just do not live with you. They would never want you to be upset or mad. They are always there when needed as well.
Grandparents are probably the kindest, most generous people in the family. They have been alive the longest and are very wise. We should all listen and pay attention to the things they have to say, because they know what they are talking about. They may know how to live life to the fullest. They may have advice on things. It could be advice on something simple as what to eat for dinner. But it could also be advice on something more serious, such as a boyfriend, college, or career. They have been through it all and only want to help us succeed in any way that they can. They care about their own children as well as their grandchildren. They have unconditional love for everyone in the family.
Family is a blessing that no one should take for granted. “Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.”
